Embellished Onesie

Well I’m not much of a blogger anymore, which is fine with me, but once in a while I like to share what I’ve been up to.  Here is a project idea I found on Pinterest. I used a 0-6 cap sleeve onesie I had from Andee Lew and simply sewed on the layered fabric circles and buttons as embellishments.  I left the edges raw so when it gets washed the flowers will fray and look even more funky. I also made a matching headband and bracelet.  I’m planning on using this as a gift for the next baby shower I go to (well if it’s for a girl:)).

Christmas Gift Wrapping Idea

I don’t know what has happened to me but I’ve really been getting my craft on.  I have made slip cover pillows, sewn on buttons on shirts that have been sitting in my to do pile for quite some time and been ferociously scouring pinterest to find some of the sweetest ideas out there.   I found this adorable and easy way to dress up your gifts from Andrea over at  bleulune.typepad.com.  And it just so happens that gift giving season is upon us.  I bought this adorable green and white paper at Swiss Days (a crazy and fun handmade vendor event in Midway, Utah).  And I’m going to make these flowers in red or maybe black and silver to put on my Christmas gifts this year.

So creative I think. Check out her easy tutorial at the link above.

Ok so since I wrote this post I’ve made several and they are pretty easy to make. I just can’t quite make them look as perfect as hers though.  I’m going to have to keep practicing I guess.

On our way to school this morning the kids and I noticed all the birds gorging themselves on the freshly plowed fields this morning and we decided we could officially claim Spring as the season (even if the official date isn’t for a few more days).  In celebration of Spring we would like to show you some of what we’ve been up to.  Gorgeous, sparkly, shiny, big time bling is here.  We can’t wait to get our creative minds going and see what fun we can come up with.  Here is what we’ve started with…coming to the website very very soon.  In time for the upcoming sale…that’s right a sale is right around the corner….get excited because we think it’s SPRING.

What a weekend (plus a recipe)

Friday was Ogden day.  I convinced my dear Mother to spend her day off to help me re-do my booth at the Ogden Quilted Bear.  It took about three hours so she had to entertain the kids at the mall while I worked as fast as my fingers would let me.  Luckily the mall has a kid’s playground so they could run around.  Also the booth next to mine sells books so she sat and read them several stories.  Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture so you’ll just have to imagine a rainbow of hair accessories neatly organized according to color.  I like organized things.

Saturday was Midvale day.  First I woke up and made German pancakes. It was Dan’s birthday on Sunday so I made his favorite breakfast on Saturday complete with THE MOST DELICIOUS SYRUP EVER! I did somehow think to take a picture of this glorious concoction and am even sharing the recipe.  I really can’t take credit though.  This is a McClure family recipe.

Famous Butter Syrup: Deanna McClure

1. melt one cube butter

2. add 1/2 cup buttermilk (I use powdered buttermilk or add 1/2 tsp lemon juice to reg milk when I don’t have buttermilk)

3. add 1 cup sugar, and cook until dissolved

4. add 1/2 tsp coconut extract

5. add 1/2 tsp of baking soda (this will foam up – do not stir)

6. put on your jogging shoes and enjoy!

After that I  loaded up the supplies and made the trek down to Midvale to repaint my booth.   It was quite a day but I think the finished product turned out well  My little brother Caleb completely saved my bacon by showing up to help.  I kept saying,  “Thanks so much Caleb, I don’t know how I would have done this without you!”  He just said, “That’s what family is for.” (I took a finished product pic with my phone but I’m too technologically challenged to figure out how to load it onto my computer.  Maybe when Cade gets home from kindergarten he can show me how. :) )

Tanya!  Congratulations.  I did it the old fashioned way and cut out each one of your names (multiple times for those of you who liked us and followed us) and my little cowboy Chance picked out the name.  Thanks so much for everyone who entered.  Much more fun stuff to come!  Have a super day.
